A growing gym, a growing community impact and a bigger space for Training Cave’s next chapter.

We’re delighted to celebrate an exciting milestone for one of our tenants based here at Carr Mills Business Centre — Training Cave is expanding into a larger premises to accommodate the continued growth of its gym and the increasing demand for its community programmes.

Training Cave has been part of the Birstall community since 2017, when founder Jack Sunderland established the gym with a vision that extended far beyond fitness and boxing. Over the years, it has developed into a thriving community organisation supporting children, young people and adults through boxing, fitness, education and mentoring.

Now, that growth has created a need for more space.

Making room for growth

Training Cave's expansion reflects just how far the organisation has come.

What began as a boxing gym has grown into a social enterprise with a strong community focus. Its work includes youth programmes, school and education initiatives, boxing development, fitness sessions and opportunities designed to help young people build confidence, discipline and life skills.

The new, larger space at Carr Mills provides Training Cave with the room it needs to continue developing its gym while expanding the opportunities it can offer to the local community.

More than just a gym

For Training Cave, the move isn't simply about having more room for equipment or bigger training sessions.

Its ethos is centred around creating a positive environment where people can develop physically and personally. The organisation works with everyone from beginners and families through to competitive boxers, while also delivering programmes supporting young people who may face barriers to mainstream education or other opportunities.

That community-first approach has become a defining part of Training Cave's identity.

Previous impact research has highlighted the organisation's work with vulnerable young people and its ambition to develop a wider community hub around boxing, education and youth support.

The larger premises represent another step towards that vision.

A great example of business growth at Carr Mills

At Carr Mills Business Centre, we're proud to provide a home for businesses at different stages of their journey — from growing enterprises to established organisations.

Training Cave's expansion is a fantastic example of how a business can grow while remaining rooted in the local community.

We're particularly pleased that its next chapter is taking place here at Carr Mills. Training Cave's continued development brings more activity, opportunity and community engagement to the centre, while demonstrating the potential for businesses to grow within our premises.

Looking ahead

With more space comes more opportunity.

For Training Cave, the move creates capacity to welcome more members, develop its programmes and continue its work with young people and the wider Birstall community.

For Carr Mills Business Centre, it's another exciting example of a local organisation growing successfully from within the centre.

We're looking forward to seeing what Training Cave achieves in its new, bigger home — and we're delighted to be part of the journey.

Here's to the next chapter for Training Cave at Carr Mills Business Centre.
